Stay Warm as the Weather Gets Colder!
As temperatures drop, we’d like to remind families to help dancers stay warm, especially after class when they may be sweaty.
Bring an extra layer: A jacket or sweater is recommended before and after class, as well as during breaks.
Stay warm after dancing: Encourage students to dry off and put on an extra layer after class.
We also have new dance warmers and pre-owned Competition Team sweaters available for purchase. Please contact the front desk for details.
Stay warm, stay healthy, and keep dancing! ❤️

🎬 November In-Studio Screening
This month, we are featuring Dyad 1929, a contemporary ballet performed by The Australian Ballet, choreographed by Wayne McGregor, and set to Steve Reich’s Double Sextet.
Blending classical ballet technique with contemporary movement, this innovative work explores speed, strength, and dynamic movement through striking choreography and visual design.
Students and families are welcome to enjoy the screening during breaks between classes and discover a different side of ballet!
🩰 Ballet Performance Recommendation: Romeo and Juliet
The National Ballet of Canada presents Romeo and Juliet in Toronto from October 31 to November 8.
Choreographed by John Cranko and set to Sergei Prokofiev’s iconic score, this timeless ballet brings Shakespeare’s tragic love story to life through expressive choreography, powerful storytelling, and beautiful music.
For young dancers, attending a professional ballet performance is a wonderful opportunity to appreciate classical ballet while observing musicality, artistry, and character interpretation on stage.
We encourage families to experience this beautiful production together and inspire a deeper appreciation for dance!

Q1: Why Are RAD Ballet Classes Held Twice a Week?
With over 100 years of teaching experience, the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) provides recommended learning hours and a structured syllabus for each level to support students’ technical and artistic development.
At Yi Dance, our RAD program follows these guidelines by scheduling two classes per week. Rather than repeating the same material, each class covers different but connected elements of the syllabus, allowing students to build skills progressively.
Spreading training across two sessions also helps students maintain focus, reinforce muscle memory, and develop technique more effectively. Based on our teaching experience, twice-weekly training can improve learning outcomes by over 30% compared with one longer weekly session of the same total duration.
Consistent, structured training is especially important during childhood and adolescence. Regular practice helps dancers develop strong technique, healthy posture, coordination, and artistic expression, laying the foundation for long-term progress in ballet.
