Q: I'd like to take advantage of the registration promotion, but my child's schedule for next year isn't finalized yet. Can I switch classes later if the original time no longer works?
Absolutely!
We understand that family schedules can change, especially when coordinating school, activities, and dance classes. In most cases, students may request one class transfer per course each semester, as well as up to three make-up classes for approved absences.
If special circumstances arise—such as extended travel—additional transfers or make-up classes may be considered with supporting documentation.
Attendance & Make-Up Policies
Group class absences must be reported at least 4 hours before class.
Private lesson cancellations require at least 24 hours' notice.
If the office is closed, families may leave a voicemail or send an email, and staff will process the request once the office reopens.
Make-Up Classes
Make-up classes must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.
Once confirmed, make-up classes cannot be rescheduled.
Missed make-up classes cannot be made up again.
Upon arrival, please check in with the front desk or refer to the schedule display to ensure students are directed to the correct classroom.
Weather & Holiday Closures
In the event of severe weather or studio closures, Yi Dance follows local school board and safety guidelines. Classes cancelled due to holidays or weather-related closures do not count toward the regular make-up class allowance and may be rescheduled separately.
Q: How Can I Help My Child Prepare for Rehearsals and Classes?
We know this time of year can be especially busy with exams, rehearsals, and performances. A neat ballet bun is an essential part of every dancer’s preparation, whether for class or the stage.
A few helpful tips:
• Students should arrive with their hair properly secured in a ballet bun for every class.
• Younger students will need assistance from a parent, while children around age 8 can begin learning to do their own hair. By age 9, students are encouraged to develop this skill independently.
• During rehearsal and performance season, you'll likely need hair supplies more often. We recommend keeping essentials such as hair nets, bobby pins, and elastics on hand. These items are available at the Yi Dance front desk for your convenience.
• We’ve also prepared step-by-step tutorial videos to help make the process easier:
