Dancing for a Cause | “I Have a Dream” Summer Performance

A big thank you to SAFSS for inviting Yi Dance students to perform at the “I Have a Dream” community event on July 22!

Supported by the City of Toronto, the event gave our dancers a wonderful opportunity to share their passion on stage while giving back to the community. Their energy and heartfelt performances were warmly received by the audience.

Following the performance, Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow presented certificates to each of our participating dancers—a special way to celebrate their contribution and involvement.

More than a performance, this was a meaningful experience for our students to connect with the community through dance and support a great cause. We’re proud of everyone who took part and look forward to creating more special memories together!

Celebrating Our July RAD Exam Results! 🏅

Congratulations to our Yi Dance students on their outstanding results in the July RAD Vocational Graded Exams!

🌟 Intermediate Foundation: 100% High Distinction
🌟 Advanced 2: 100% Distinction

RAD Vocational Graded Exams are among the most challenging levels of ballet training, requiring strong technique, artistry, musicality, and performance skills. These fantastic results reflect the dedication and hard work of our students, along with the guidance of our teachers and the continued support of our dance families.

Congratulations to all our dancers on this wonderful achievement! We’re so proud of your progress and can’t wait to see where your dedication takes you next. 🎉

Q1: What is Dance Conditioning / Core, Strength & Flexibility, and who is it for?

A: Dance Conditioning is specialized physical training designed to build a strong, balanced, and healthy body. While it’s an essential complement to dance training, the benefits extend well beyond dancers.

Classes focus on key areas such as:

  • Core strength & stability

  • Balance & coordination

  • Flexibility & mobility

  • Body control & muscular endurance

  • Proper muscle activation and movement mechanics

  • Stretching & recovery

These skills form the foundation not only for dance, but for almost every athletic activity.

🩰 For Dancers
Conditioning can improve control, movement quality, flexibility, and overall performance across Ballet, Contemporary, Lyrical, Chinese Dance, and more. It also supports stronger, more stable jumps and turns while helping reduce the risk of injury.

🏊 For Athletes
This class is also a great complement to sports such as swimming, skiing, figure skating, and gymnastics. Core strength, mobility, and body-control training can support athletic performance while helping address muscle imbalances and overuse.

At Yi Dance, our Core, Strength & Flexibility classes are offered year-round and are open to both dancers and non-dancers. Whether you’re training for dance, competitions, exams, performances, or another sport, building a strong physical foundation can help you move better and train smarter.

Q2: We have several summer travel plans. Can my child miss a class and schedule a make-up?

A: Absolutely! If your child will be away, please let us know at least 4 hours in advance whenever possible. You can report an absence in any of the following ways:

  • Online: Submit the Absence & Make-Up Class Request Form: https://www.yidance.net/en/absence

Make-Up Class Guidelines

  • Make-up classes must be completed within the same term and can only be scheduled after the missed class.

  • Once a make-up class is confirmed, it cannot be rescheduled. A missed make-up class cannot be replaced.

  • Make-up classes are subject to class availability and scheduling, and our team will do our best to accommodate your request.

  • Students may receive up to 1 make-up class during the Summer Term and 3 during the Fall/Spring Term.

  • Classes cancelled by Yi Dance due to holidays or weather do not count toward these limits.

Thank you for helping us keep classes and make-up arrangements running smoothly!
